Grades 1/2

Students in grade 1/2 will be focusing on drama in Term 1. The unit aims to introduce grade 1 and 2 students to basic dramatic concepts while exploring emotions through creative activities. Each lesson will be building on the previous one to develop students’ understanding and skills in drama.

Grades 3/4

The Year 3 and 4 students will begin the term with music theory to prepare them for the instrumental program – recorder. Students will need their own recorder (due to health regulations). Details will be provided on the school Compass portal to purchase one from the school. All the students will learn to play the recorder during Performing Art lessons once a week. Music will be provided to students, so they are able to practice their pieces learnt in class and at home too.

Grades 5/6

The grade 5/6 students will commence African drumming in term 1. Students will learn the basics of drumming and will be challenged to work in small groups to compose and perform a song to the whole class using the tone, open slap, and bass techniques.
