Italiano –  Term 2

And just like that we are in term 2! I hope that the students have been coming home and using the Italian language learnt at school. This term is yet another exciting time in Italian where we begin to plan for an exciting upcoming event in term 3. Can you guess??

Grade 5/6 Italiano

Continuing from our investigations of Italy in term one, students will research regions of Italy and explore famous Italians. This will tie in beautifully with our excursion to LUME where we will visit and see Leonardo Da Vinci’s works of art and familiarise ourselves with his life.

Grade 3/4 Italiano

The students will look at body expressions through an Italian story book, ‘Faccia Buffa’ -Funny Face! We will look at things we like and don’t like to do introducing verbs and attach the verbs with appropriate expressions.

Grade 1/ 2 Italiano

The students will start a unit of work on ‘La Casa’ – The House. Students will explore the different areas of a home and compare homes from Italy to a typical Australian home.

Foundation Italiano Foundation students will be introduced to the Italian alphabet and make a comparison to the English alphabet.  We will revise the colours and learn the rainbow song in Italian. We will consolidate the numbers 1 to 10 and know how to say our name and ask the question of ‘Come ti chiami? (What is your name?)

We are also hoping that if there are any parents who wish to come and volunteer to assist students and perhaps learn Italian whilst doing so, you would be very welcome. Please contact me if you wish to assist and be a parent helping in Italian classes. maria.lyon@education.vic.gov.au
