Physical Education

Physical Education is a fundamental element of the curriculum at Pascoe Vale Primary School (PVPS). It provides an opportunity for students to enhance their abilities in various sports and activities, understand the mechanics of movement, and apply strategic thinking to gameplay. Students are encouraged to engage in self-analysis, goal setting, and reflective practices throughout the year.

This year, our Physical Education team comprises Mr. Brad Flynn and Mr. Connor Roach. Their mission is to foster a secure and encouraging learning atmosphere where students can explore new activities and refine their existing skills. The ultimate aim is to instil a lifelong passion for physical activity and participation in both team and individual sports.

A key objective for our students is to demonstrate SUPPORT for one another, embracing both successes and challenges while cultivating good sportsmanship.

During Term 2, it is mandatory for students to bring a filled water bottle and wear appropriate footwear (running shoes) to all Physical Education sessions.

FOUNDATION

The Foundation students will be introduced to the various indoor and outdoor spaces around the school where they will engage in Physical Education lessons. They will participate in a range of team-building activities, enhancing their collaboration skills. Additionally, students will explore fundamental motor skills, with a focus on soccer, as well as catching and throwing exercises. These activities will help develop their fine and gross motor skills.

GRADES 1 & 2

Throughout this term, students in Grades 1 and 2 will engage in a variety of games and activities, including t-ball, soccer, and athletics. These will take place in different indoor and outdoor spaces, focusing on improving their throwing, catching, and punting skills. GRADES 3 & 4

The students in Grades 3 and 4 will participate in a variety of sports sessions, including bat tennis, athletics, and soccer. In the bat tennis unit, students will focus on improving their racket skills, coordination, and game strategy. During the athletics sessions, they will work on their running, jumping, and throwing techniques. In soccer, students will have the opportunity to develop their dribbling, passing, and shooting skills, as well as understanding the rules and teamwork aspects of the game.

GRADES 5 & 6

In term 2, students in Grades 5 and 6 will participate in sessions covering bat tennis, athletics, and soccer.
